Ganatra Plant and Equipment Limited has launched the JCB 345 LC in Kenya and Uganda, introducing a 34 tonne heavy-duty excavator designed precisely for the scale of infrastructure and mining projects currently reshaping both countries. The machine is capable of digging to depths of 6.6 metres and handling hard rock excavation in mining and quarry environments. It is now available at Ganatra’s Nairobi showroom on Baba Dogo Road, with a second unit stationed in Kampala to serve the Ugandan market.
The Managing Director Altaf Ganatra said the timing of the launch is deliberate. “The JCB 345 LC is the right machine for the scale of projects Kenya and Uganda are undertaking right now. We are proud to make it available to our customers. Quarrying, mining, dam construction and mass excavation are the primary demand drivers. We have many quarries operating in Kenya and increasing mining activity. This machine is ideal for those sectors,” said Ganatra.
At the core of the machine is a 7.2 litre DIESELMAX engine producing 221 horsepower and 960 Nm of torque, fully developed by JCB to simplify servicing and improve spare parts availability across Ganatra’s regional support network. Variable-flow hydraulic pumps improve operating efficiency whilst reducing fuel consumption with a significant consideration for contractors working in remote locations and on fuel-sensitive projects. Ganatra is already planning to introduce a 50 tonne excavator currently under development, signalling confidence that demand in the region will continue to grow in line with expanding infrastructure investment.
