United Kingdom headquartered Katoro Gold has received a green light to continue its second phase environmental and social-impact assessment (Esia) at its Tanzania-based Imweru project.
“We are extremely pleased with the sustained momentum and progress on the Imweru resource development programme,” Chairperson Louis Coetzee citing that government has issued the company with letter of continuation.
The Imweru mining right application is scheduled for submission in October.
Subject to securing additional funding and contingent on expansion of the Imweru mineral resource base, the long-term strategy for the project is to increase production to 100 000 oz/y of gold and develop a mineral resource base in excess of one-million ounces.
