Powering Mining Electrification Project in Chile- Innomotics

Innomotics, a global leader in electric motors and large drive systems, has secured a major electrification contract for a significant mining operation in northern Chile. The value of the order is in the double-digit million-euro range.

As the world’s largest copper producer, Chile plays a central role in the global minerals market. Innomotics, with decades of experience in the country’s mining sector and deep expertise in mining electrification, is now set to modernise key infrastructure linked to tailings management and environmental systems. The project supports the client’s strategic focus on operational efficiency and sustainability.

The scope of the project includes engineering, supply, commissioning and start-up of an integrated system consisting of 71 medium-voltage drives, eight modular E-houses, medium and low voltage distribution systems. Mining is vital to Chile’s economy and to the global shift towards a more sustainable and digital future. Minerals and rare earths extracted in the country support emerging technologies such as batteries, semiconductors and solar panels. Ensuring the reliability and sustainability of mining operations is therefore critical.

One of the industry’s greatest challenges is securing dependable power supply under harsh conditions. Modular power distribution solutions such as Innomotics’ E-houses offer an effective response by delivering efficiency from extraction through to transportation and beneficiation. In addition to reducing time and costs, E-houses support increased productivity and help mining clients meet their sustainability goals.

Digital solutions also underpin future-ready, sustainable maintenance, ensuring consistent performance and system reliability. “From minerals and metals to rare earth elements, mining is one of the world’s most essential yet demanding industries. We’re proud to support our mining partners in Chile and beyond with reliable, forward thinking solutions that enable more sustainable operations,” concluded Michael Reichle, Chief Executive Officer of Innomotics.
